A long list of teenage birthday party games and activities is usually not necessary for teenage birthday parties, due to the amount of energy unleashed just by gathering the teens together in one place!
Many older kids love to just hang out with their friends on their special day, have pizza, watch a movie, and play around the house.
However, it's always a good idea to be prepared with a few teenage birthday party games and activities just in case the party begins to slow down or has a hard time getting off the ground. Try a few of the following for just that little added special touch.

Luck of the draw- When everyone enters the party, give each of them a ticket. These can either be handmade or can be purchased at your favorite discount store very inexpensively. Tell them to keep their ticket, because there will be a drawing during the party. Depending on your budget, have 1 or more drawings for a variety of items -- some items that teens would love, and a few that are just for fun and laughs.
Texting Story Games
There are old teenage birthday party games that required everyone to sit in a circle and one player to start off whispering a short story into the ear of the person sitting next to them. That person would then whisper the story into the next person’s ear, and it would travel around the circle until the last person said the story out loud. The story would always be different in the end than it was in the beginning, and sometimes it would be downright hilarious in the end.
You can still play this game in that design, but a modern spin is to have teenagers text the story to one another, with the rule that they can only read the text one time very quickly. They then have to open a completely blank text and send it to the next person completely from memory. In the end, the recipient of the final text and the sender of the first text stand together and read their versions for all to enjoy.
One final version of this is to combine this game with charades. One person is given an action to act out, such as washing their hair or serving coffee. This person stands in a room and acts the action out for the first player. Then the first player has to guess what was being acted out and act it out in a different way for the second player. It continues with one player entering the room at a time and taking a turn guessing and acting out. In the end, the final person takes a guess at what was being acted out. It is rarely the same action as what the original person was assigned!
Secret Words
Put up a sign with the name of each party guest lined out, giving enough room for each one to make tally marks beneath their name without getting mixed up with one another’s marks. You can do this on paper, on a dry erase board, or any other method available. Write words on small pieces of paper, fold them up, and mix them together in a bowl. As party guests arrive, have them select a secret word from the bowl.
Everyone will have a different word and their mission is to get others at the party to say their word as many times as possible. Every time they hear someone say their word (coaxed or not) they get to make a tally mark under their name. They have to be sneaky so no one figures out their word. There should be a small prize for the guest who has the most tally marks at the end of the party.
There are many other teen birthday party games out there, so sit down with your teen and work with them to find something creative!

A Night of Pizza and Snacks- If your child wants to stay home with his friends, then order your child’s favorite pizza. Also provide simple snacks for a night of watching movies or staying up late.
Prepare a large bowl of popcorn and M&M’s as well as some homemade chocolate chip cookies. And it never hurts to have a tub of your child’s favorite ice cream in the freezer.
A Fun Night Out with Family and Friends- Sometimes, going to a favorite place is preferred before coming home to just hang out. For example, you could take everyone to a fun pizza place where they can enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet, as many desserts as their hearts desire, and a couple of hours of playing fun games.
Another great tradition for teenage birthday party games includes taking the gang to a laser tag facility for lots of action and suspense. Usually the cost of a night like this is much cheaper than some of the party themes for younger ages.
Rise and Shine for a Yummy Breakfast- Another teen birthday party idea is to cook a fun birthday breakfast for the teenagers when they wake up in the morning. Don’t worry, though! It won’t be early, because most likely they will have stayed up very late the night before.
Try an all you can eat pancake or french toast buffet. You can serve the basic pancake and everyone gets to choose whatever topping they want to add. Some suggested toppings are fresh fruit, jelly, whipped cream (in a squirt bottle -- teen birthday party guests think this is the highlight of the party!), chocolate chips, powdered sugar, and so forth. Let your imagination run wild.
