Since teenagers don’t care much about goodie bags, this is a neat way for at least a few guests to go home with a special treat. Teenagers love $5.00 or $10.00 gift cards to their favorite places to eat like Sonic, Starbucks, McDonald’s, etc.
Dance- Let this be the main focus of your party. In order for this not to be a time of boyfriends and girlfriends dancing to a lot of slow dances, be very mindful and careful when planning the music. Plan fun music where everyone can dance all together like The Chicken Dance, The Cotton-Eye-Joe, line dancing, bunny hop, and any other fun group dances.
A great idea that is unusual but usually goes over well is to hire a dance instructor to teach an appropriate type of dance that the kids would find fun. Have the instructor give a group lesson on how to do a dance and have the kids learn it and perform it all together. The kids may not want to do it at first, but most will soon get into it and be all smiles.
Limbo- This is one game that kids never outgrow. Don’t just use an ordinary stick. Decorate the limbo stick to reflect your daughter’s school colors with a picture of the school mascot on both ends of the stick.
Birthday Girl Trivia- Come up with facts about your daughter that are fun and interesting. Make these true or false questions and see how many questions the guests can get right. Be sure to run the questions by your daughter before presenting them. She is less likely to be embarrassed or upset if she knows the questions and helped you put them together.
Game Shows- You can also play sweet 16th birthday party games that are a spin off of your daughter’s favorite game show.
Photo Booth- Kids this age love to take pictures with their friends. Come up with a neat backdrop where the guests can take a picture with your daughter or just by themselves. But first, make sure this is okay with your daughter. She may not want to have to take this much time out of her party to snap a picture with every single guest. Just make sure that the backdrop is fun where the guests will want to take a picture as a keepsake of the party.
