Holiday Birthdays Can Be Easy to Plan!
It's tough when your child's birthday is one of the many holiday birthdays! However, you don't want to drop the ball on the birthday celebration. It's your child's special day!
There are many things playing against you like friends being out
of town, having a very tight budget due to purchasing other holiday
presents, and just the plain energy it takes to get ready for not
only a holiday like Christmas but a birthday party as well.
Appreciating a birthday that falls on a holiday is all in how you
embrace it. Whether you decide to keep your child's holiday birthday
low key or go all out, here are some great ideas and tips to
remember when planning.
- Take advantage of the holiday and all that it has to offer.
Incorporate all the fun of the particular holiday into the
party. Take Christmas for example. Why not make ornaments, drink
hot chocolate, and go caroling at your daughter's party? At
Thanksgiving time, why not let each of the guests tell why they
are thankful for the birthday girl or boy. What a way to help
your son or daughter feel extra special! At an Easter birthday
party, give everyone a bunny ears headband to wear and paint
whiskers on their faces when they arrive. Why not let one of
your activities be to hunt birthday Easter eggs? The
possibilities are endless.
- Take advantage of the many items for sale for the holiday at
your local stores. There is no better time than this to stock up
on piñata fillers, prizes, party favors, and party decorations.
- One of the downfalls of having a birthday during these times
of the year is the timing of it all. Sometimes it is hard to get
a lot of people to come to the party, because some families
travel during this time. You can solve this problem by having
the party before the week of the holiday. It is still close
enough to the holiday to incorporate it, but far enough away
that others still might be able to come.
- If having your birthday party on the holiday is something
that you want to avoid altogether, then just have your child's
birthday party the weekend after the holiday. This way, the
holiday will not have an impact on your child's special day.
- If your child is old enough and mature enough to fully
understand the reasons behind giving and the importance of
giving rather than receiving, then try to focus on the giving
for the party. Make your child's party a "no presents allowed"
party. This is where all the guests bring something for a needy
family or pet food for your local humane society and you donate
the gifts in honor of your child's birthday. This is a great
thing to do at Christmas or Thanksgiving.
